Full Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & NYumbani Estate
Your African safari begins when you step off the plane in Kilimanjaro, where you will be met by our professional ground team, guided by Professor Charles Swai. Enjoy a cold drink and a smooth, comfortable ride in our private, customized Land Cruiser, where it’s just a 35-minute trip to our Mount Meru Village home: Nyumbani, as “Nyumbani” means “home” in Swahili. Ombeni’sguests are considered family VIPs, and you will experience what we know about Tanzania as if you were our family.

With family and friends waiting, music on the stereo, a fire in the fireplace and tea and cocktails upon arrival. This estate is only six bedrooms, welcoming you as a rustic, intimate oasis tucked away in a tropical plantation, and the perfect place to unwind after your flight. Arusha is only three degrees south of the equator, but its 4,500-foot elevation encourages floral luxuriance and gentle breezes with birds and monkeys jumping around.
Day 2&3: Tarangire National Park
The sixth largest national park in Tanzania, Tarangire National Park is well-known for its vast herds of elephants, lions, cheetahs, leopards, and buffalo. Your driver and guide is a highly-trained wildlife expert whose ability to spot animals and birds, along with his knowledge of the species you see, will fascinate you.

Your second day in Tarangire National Park features morning and afternoon game drives through the savanna grasslands. Enjoy panoramic views of baobab and acacia trees as you encounter the largest elephants in Africa, as well as elands, zebra, and Cape buffalo that congregate around the waterholes. Between and after game drives, you’ll relax at the award-winning Tarangire Treetops Safari Lodge, where you’ll enjoy dinner and another beautiful night’s sleep among the diverse African wildlife.
Evenings 2-3: Tarangire Treetops Safari Lodge
Tarangire Treetops Safari Lodge is built around a thousand year-old baobab tree. Each of the Treetop Rooms boasts one of the largest bedrooms to be found in any camp or lodge in East Africa, and all are stilted above ground, enabling you beautiful views of the surrounding fauna.

Though every experience you’ll have at Treetops Safari Lodge will be memorable, perhaps one of the best experiences will be exploring their dining options. Whether you’re enjoying a lantern-lit dinner in a traditional Boma echoing to the sounds of Maasai chants, or eating poolside by candlelight whilst a wealth of wildlife comes to drink at the Lodge water hole, Treetops creates memories by the minute and in so many differing ways.
Day 4: Lake Mayanara
We will follow what we call “The Ernest Hemingway Route”. We’ll enjoy one last game drive in Tarangire en route to Lake Manyara National Park, which lies at the base of the Rift Valley escarpment. This small park is surprisingly diverse, ranging from groundwater forests to grassy plains, to the alkaline Lake Manyara itself.
Evening 4: Oldeani lodge
Oldeani is a 5-star colonial lodge located on a picturesque hill with spectacular views onto Oldeani Mountain and the Ngorongoro Crater Rim. The lodge is elevated with 360-degree views that extend all the way to Lake Eyasi and Lake Manyara, and the property is set on 40 acres of pristine lush green gardens and local vegetation with over 130 species of birds.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Angata Tented Camp
Today we embark into the heart of Tanzania, Ngorongoro Crater, the Eden of Africa. First, you’ll enjoy a cultural adventure with Maasai Warriors in the Ngorongoro area. A full-day game drive inside Ngorongoro Crater is a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ opportunity to spot all the African wildlife you’ve been yearning to see. The crater is technically a caldera: the world’s largest unflooded caldera, in fact.

Named after the Maasai’s word for “wilderness”, Angata is also a region of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area called Angata Kiti situated near Nasira Rock, a rich grass plain sandwiched between the Gol Mountains to the south and the slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater to the north.
Days 6-8: Serengeti National Park
Serengeti, derived from the Maasai word, “siringet”, means “the place where the land runs on forever”. This beautiful park covers 5,700 square miles of grassland plains, savanna, riverine forest and woodlands.

More than 2 million wildebeest make up the largest population of big mammals that still roam the planet, and are accompanied by 250,000 zebra, 5,000 African bush elephant and the largest population of lions in Africa. Here, you’ll also have the chance to spot leopards, giraffes, impala and hippos on a private guided walking safari with park rangers.
Evening 6-7: Serengeti National Park
Serengeti Migration Camp: Each tent has its own 36-degree verandah deck, giving you a private sanctuary for game sightings and the bush. The beautiful tented rooms offer the comforts of home, and include flushing toilets, en suite showers, a desk and fan.

Serengeti Pioneer Camp: This camp brings nostalgia to the forefront, paying homage to the mobile camps of the 1930’s, a time when an African safari was truly a journey into the unknown. The camp’s ‘zero footprint’ and close proximity to nature combines to make an unmistakably distinctive and truly individual offering.
Day 8: Explore Serengeti by Sky
As the sun peaks just above the horizon, a peaceful quiet surrounds you. You step onto your private hot air balloon and begin to soar through the sky. The sun rises, a torch burning through the fluffy clouds, illuminating the savanna below. Here, with an eagle eye view of the perfect landscape, time stands still as Africa’s Great Migration plays out below.

It’s the perfect end to an amazing experience and your day has only just begun. Next, you’ll land the balloon and enjoy breakfast and champagne in the bush.
Day 9: Fly to Arusha
Today, you’ll bid farewell to the Serengeti and fly on a private aircraft to Arusha. Though you’ll leave Tanzania with memories and photos to last a lifetime, you may wish to bring home a souvenir or two to remember your time with us. You will be warmly welcomed by students, teachers, parents and village elders
Evening 9: Arusha Hotel
Since 1894 The Arusha Hotel has watched as the once sleepy town of Arusha has grown up around it. From its central vantage point at the famous Clock Tower roundabout and overlooked by the majestic shadow of Mount Meru. This is the finest place to stay at our lodge in Arusha. You’ll love the hotel’s beautiful gardens and the lanterns that light the way for you to explore the brick steps.
