South African Safari and Victoria Falls Itinerary
On your first day of the South African Safari & Victoria Falls itinerary, fly in into Cape Town, known as the “Mother City”, where you are met by our expert guide who will shuttle you to the Abbey Manor Guesthouse. Nestled on the slopes of Table Mountain, Abbey Manor imparts a feeling of grandeur and old-world charm. Un-pack your things and prepare for the amazing adventure ahead.
Spend your morning touring Cape Town, visit the House of Parliament and the Castle of Good Hope, the oldest existing building in South Africa. Stop in to the lively Greenmarket Square, a flea market trading african souvenirs, crafts and curios. After lunch you will venture off to Table Mountain which offers spectacular views of Cape Town below. Finish your trek with a cable car ride from the mountain back to town. Return to Abbey Manor for dinner and drinks.
Embark on a full day tour of the Cape Peninsula, taking you all the way to the Cape of Good Hope. Board a funicular to the top of Chapman’s Peak to witness the meeting of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. After you will visit the African Penguins at Boulders Beach, get up close with these amazing animals who let you get within three feet. On your way back to Cape Town stop at the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens before returning to the Abbey Manor.
Pack up your things and catch a flight to Hoedspruit on your way to Kruger National Park. Upon arrival you will be shuttled to Garonga Safari Camp to unpack and prepare for your first game drive. In the afternoon you will be taken on a sunset game drive in search of the big five, and return to Garonga in time for dinner and fine wines.
Wake up before first light to view a stunning sunrise over the unspoiled bush. A morning game drive is the best time to see the animals in action before the heat of the day sets in. Return to camp for lunch and a quick nap in a hammock before setting out on another late afternoon game drive. Observe predators begin their nightly hunt in search of their next meal. Take in the sunset on your way back to Garonga for another night of relaxation.
Today you have the choice to go on more game drives or trek along the Panorama Route. The Panorama trip sets off from camp after breakfast, the route will take you to the Blyde River Canyon, Three Rondavels, Lisbon Waterfalls and God’s Window. The breathtaking views and plunging waterfalls makes this is the perfect trip for the avid sightseer. Late afternoon, head back to Garonga and prepare for your flight in the morning.
Head to the airport for a flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival you will be taken to The Peech Boutique Hotel. Hit the streets of Johannesburg, the largest city in South Africa. Visit the Apartheid Museum or the Wits Art Museum. Those looking for more thrills might want to head to Gold Reef City an amusement park located on an old gold mine. In the afternoon, make your way to Montecasino for a show or some casual gaming. Retreat back to The Peech for a night cap cocktail before its time for bed.
This morning you will catch a flight to Victoria Falls. Check into the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge and get settled in before lunch. In the afternoon you will board a boat that will cruise you to Palm Island to enjoy a picturesque sunset on the Zambezi River. The cruise is a perfect way to relax and enjoy the beauty of the river with a chance to view hippo, crocodile, elephants and a huge variety of bird species. Head back to the lodge for dinner at the The Boma a restaurant that has nightly drum shows.
Today’s adventure takes you to Victoria Falls one of the seven wonders of the world. Witness the towering column of mist, the terrifying abyss and tranquil lagoons all while listening to the thunder of the falling water. There is a reason the locals call it “Mosi-oa-tunya” which translates to the smoke that thunders. Victoria falls is the largest body of falling water on the planet making it a must see. In the evening, eat dinner at the Makuwa-Kuwa while watching elephants frollicking in the water holes below
Pack your things and board your flight back to Johannesburg. Depending on the departure time of your flight you may have time to shop for gifts, grab lunch at an upscale bistro or visit a museum the choice is totally up to you.
