Day 1-3: Tsara Komba, Nosy Be
Nosy Be’s is Madagascar’s most popular tourist destination, located off Madagascar’s northwestern coast, this small island is blessed with exquisite sand beaches, glittering volcanic lakes and diverse flora and fauna.
Nosy Be has remained refreshingly unspoiled and free of rampant development, with low-key beach bungalows outnumbering the glitzy commercial resorts. Most visitors relax on idyllic beaches, go swimming or snorkeling in the calm azure waters and enjoy seafood feasts at oceanfront restaurants, but if you enjoy sightseeing, it’s worth paying a visit to the bazaar in Hell-ville to pick up samples of fragrant spices as Nosy.
Be is nicknamed ‘The Perfume Island’. Don’t miss the lush rainforests of the Lobeke nature reserve as well as the coral reefs skirting the coast offer phenomenal scuba diving opportunities, while a peppering of surrounding islets make for enchanting day trips.
Welcome to the Nosy Be Archipelago! On arrival at the airport in Nosy Be you will be met and transferred by car to Hell-Ville where you will continue to Tsara Komba Lodge by boat. You will be spending the next 3-nights on Nosy Komba, the most beautiful island of the Nosy Be archipelago and also known as ‘Lemur Island’.
This eco-paradise describes its own atmosphere as ‘the life in the slow lane’ giving you the perfect opportunity to simply unwind and relax. The more active traveller can choose from a myriad of activities
such scuba-diving, snorkelling, guided hikes as well as visits to the local villages (all activities are optional and for clients own account). Owner run Tsara Komba is simply wonderful. Situated on the eastern side of Nosy Komba, this 8 roomed, luxury lodge is an ideal getaway for the discerning visitor. Built above its own private beach amongst stunning gardens and with wonderful views, the hotel is an ideal base from which to explore the island, dive, fish, snorkel or simply relax. All four rooms and two suites are beautifully spacious (90 to 120 m2), boasting ensuite facilities and private verandas overlooking the ocean. The main area consists of a stylish sitting area, bar and restaurant. The chef produces such delicious French cuisine that guests find themselves returning back year after year.
Excursions to the markets and plantations on the mainland are easily arranged, as are trips to visit the Lemur Park on the other side of the island.
This volcanic island offers magnificent views from its 622-metre high peak. It is situated roughly 30 minutes from Nosy Be by boat.
Day 4: Andasibe Hotel, Andasibe Special Reserve
Andasibe/Perinet Special Reserve:
Comprising 810 hectares of pristine rainforest and montane forest, the Perinet or Andasibe Special Reserve constitutes the southern section of the Andasibe-Mantadia National Park. Among the kaleidoscope of
wildlife found in the reserve, it is the best place to see the Indri Indri, the largest of the lemur family, which stands roughly three feet high and has big, teddy-bear-like ears.

Endemic to this part of the world, the Indri is critically endangered, with only hundreds left – however, most visitors to Perinet see Indris, and if you don’t see them, you will certainly hear their distinctive calls. Discover the eleven other species of lemur in the park, spot a variety of birds and rare orchids and try to catch a glimpse of the incredibly unusual Satanic leaf-tailed gecko.
After a leisurely breakfast, check out of Tsara Komba hotel and transfer to the airport for your departing flight to Antananarivo (not included in package price). Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport & will head to Andasibe through the green and luxuriant vegetation of the east.
This first step brings us to the humid part of the country with many primary forests and lakes, and the landscape consists of rice fields,
waterfalls, and scarce forest stations. Along the way we will see Merina villages in the rocky mountains.
On arrival check-in to the hotel, and then after 19h00 enjoy a night walk in the area of Andasibe to observe night active lemurs and other nocturnal animals. Return to the hotel where we overnight. (If your flight means you arrive too late to partake in the night walk, it will be done on the next evening).

Park is the main attraction of the area. It is among the protected areas most visited on the Big Island.
An essential stop on the tour of the North East of Madagascar: the Pangalanes Canal, the city of Tamatave, the beaches of Foulpointe and Mahambo. The Andasibe National Park is home to several endemic species including the famous lemur Indri. The park also has the highest title of the world capital of toads. Abundant

Day 5: Andasibe Hotel, Perinet Special Reserve
After breakfast, we take a morning visit to the Special Reserve of Andasibe, where you will discover the many species dwelling in the forest. In particular, your guide will search for the Indri Indri, the largest lemurs on the island. This 810 ha reserve is unique with its endemic fauna and flora. It contains a wide variety of orchids, canopy, and endemic animals like chameleons, tenrecs, and many birds. We also visit the Orchid garden, after which we return to our hotel for lunch.
The rest of your afternoon is at leisure – why not take some time to relax by the pool, enjoy a horse ride, or visit the Private Park of Vakona (horse-riding and visit to private park are optional extras).

Day 6: Palissandre Hotel & Spa, Antananarivo
After breakfast, we head back to Tana, stopping for lunch at the Reptile & Butterfly farm (lunch at own expense). The capital of Madagascar is also called the ‘City of Thousands’ and it is where the first King
started to unify the different kingdoms of the island. Embark on a short city orientation tour. Arrive at your hotel in the late afternoon.
Overnight: Palissandre Hotel & Spa is located in downtown Antananarivo. It features an outdoor pool, a spa and a restaurant with terrace offering panoramic city views. Free WiFi access is available. The rooms at Palissandre
Hotel & Spa contain wooden furniture. Each room is equipped with a TV, telephone, minibar and air conditioning. Featuring a bath or shower, the bathrooms also comes with a hairdryer and bathrobes. Antananarivo is Madagascar’s capital city, perched on top of a mountain range close to several nature reserves, including Tsingy de Bemaraha, with its fantastical limestone spikes. Founded in 1625, it has a rich historical heritage that is complemented by scenic landscapes traversed with a multitude of hiking routes. The city is also known for its bubbly nightlife, with live music played regularly at various clubs, bars and hotels.

Day 7: Mandrare River Camp, Ifotaka
Situated in the Amboasary Sud District, Ifotaka a town and a commune on the beautiful island of Madagascar. It is known for its spectacular natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and its numerous historical, sacred sites. It is home to the remote Ifotaka Community Forest, which is a wild, secluded sanctuary protected by the local Antandroy people.
This off-the-beaten-track destination features abundant spiny forest, ancient hidden tombs, and unspoilt landscape inhabited by an array of endemic wildlife including a variety of lemurs and many bird species, such as the malachite kingfisher, hook-billed vangas, scops owl and many others. Don’t miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in local traditions and visit the ombiasy healer.
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred back to Ivato airport for your two-hour flight to Fort Dauphin, on the south-eastern coast of Madagascar. Upon arrival you will be met by your guide and will take lunch in Fort Dauphin, before driving west towards Antandroy Spiny Forest (Charter flight from Fort Dauphin is available at an additional cost).
The three-hour journey offers a contrast of landscapes ranging from the rice paddies of the eastern seaboard over the lush tropical plateau to the drier arid region of sisal plantations and “spiny forest”.
You will arrive at your luxury tented camp in the late afternoon, allowing you to settle into your accommodation and enjoy the breath-taking views across the Mandrare River.
Overnight: Mandrare River Camp
Situated under the Tamarind Trees along the banks of the Mandrare River, three hours drive from Fort Dauphin, is the new tented Mandrare River Camp. Set in the grounds of an old colonial sisal plantation, the camp is three kilometres from the village of Ifotaka and opposite the sacred ancestral forest of the Antandroy Tribe. The day to day activities will always include walks to see the endemic wildlife which
Madagascar is famous for.
The best times for these walks are the mornings and afternoons to escape the heat of the sun. Where suitable night walks will be arranged as this is often the best time to see many reptile species as well as the nocturnal lemur species such as Mouse and Sportive Lemur. Whenever possible and practical, interaction between clients and the local community is encouraged. Mealtimes are a treat. The head chef has perfected the art of producing fresh croissants in the bush! He has also found a reliable source for fresh lobster, local fish and prawns. The Zebu steaks are excellent while other little treats like foie gras are sourced in Tana.
Day 8: Mandrare River Camp, Ifotaka
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast on the banks of the river, before embarking on a trip to the sacred Antandroy forest, crossing the river on foot to observe lemurs and many bird species.
You will also be able to see the tombs of the Antandroy ancestors, and your guide will explain the culture of ancestor worship in detail.
Lunch will be served at your camp, and there will be time to relax before you depart on an afternoon activity, unless you would prefer to rest at camp and enjoy the serenity of the river.
Some of the activity options include a trip to the giant sand dunes of Lake Anony, watching the sun set at the baobabs, night walks (gallery and spiny forest), watching various species of lemurs and birds, watching traditional dancers, and a visit to the village or local school.
Day 9: Mandrare River Camp, Ifotaka
Today will be spent enjoying the various activities located at and around your luxury tented accommodation. These will be on suggestion of your guide, tailored to your interests.
Activities from the camp take place in the early mornings and late afternoons and evenings to avoid the heat of the day.
There are a number of designated forest areas in close proximity to the camp, where, withpermission from and being accompanied by one of the local village chiefs it is possible to explore, together
with your guide, this unique and fascinating natural paradise.
Day 10: End of Itinerary
You will drive back to Fort Dauphin and continue to the airport for your scheduled flight to Antananarivo,
where you will connect with your departure flight.

Airport transfers are usually conducted in sedan vehicles or minibuses. The game drives will take place in open 4×4 vehicles.
TRAVELLING TIMES AND DISTANCES:
All travelling times are affected by road conditions, border crossings, detours and weather conditions, therefore on certain days travelling times may be longer than anticipated especially where there is a lot of distance to be covered. Please keep in mind that the time it takes to travel 100 km in your home country is not equivalent to the time it takes to travel 100 km on African roads, therefore we encourage you to sit back and enjoy the spectacular scenery Africa has to offer. Where possible additional stops will be made to ensure your traveling comfort at all times.
Meals included in your safari will be taken in the restaurants at the various accommodation establishments. Please advise us of any special dietary requirements in advance.
