The major attraction of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is the population of majestic mountain gorilla known to inhabit the park. Bwindi is a forest of enormous hardwood trees, giant ferns, tangled undergrowth and hanging vines - the quintessential equatorial jungle. This afromontane forest is one of the richest ecosystems in Africa. It is the only forest that contains chimpanzees and gorillas. Get up close and personal with the planets largest pack of mountain gorillas, it makes up over half of the population remaining on earth. There are no mountain gorillas in captivity this is your best chance to view these beautiful animals while also giving back to the conservation of the species.
